FF13 first impressions!

I'm about an hour or two in, and so far?

Preeeeetty.

The broken battle system has YAY been fixed~, which fills me with glee. The battles, so far, are also stupidly easy. I'm sure I'll be eating my words soon enough, but so far, no challenge.

There is also a LOT of reading, and I mean a lot--it throws you into the story in medias res, and it unlocks the backstory as "chapters" as you go, and so you have to stop and read to really understand what's going on. I don't mind this at all, since you can choose when to read anything...or rather, I wouldn't, if the font wasn't so bloody small. Eyestrain, here I come. *death*

Also, Vanille is a fucking freak, OMFG. I'm not sure if she needs ritalin or Jesus or what, but she clearly needs something.

ETA - OMFG, Lightning just decked Snow, and it was awesome. Homegirl laid him out flat on his back with that punch. >XDDDD

I take it back...I DO have a holiday wish list

Artwork. Specifically, I came up with a punny name for my ArtFire shop - Dragon Feats (draggin' feet...with handmade socks...shut up, I think it's funny) - and I want an image I can use for the banner and any business cards I might make up. Specifically, I want a goofy/cartoony green dragon, wearing a knit beanie cap and socks (one claw poking out of one sock like a big toe). I want him on the left, with maybe a rocky plain and sky to the right, so I can put "Dragon Feats - Hand Knit Socks, Slippers, Hats, and More" on the right part of the banner. The banner is 760x100, so I would crop the image down to just the feet and words for the banner,then use the head for the shop icon, and the whole image on business cards.

Wii Fit Challenge~: Down to the wire

I realized today that I'm nearly at the lowest point weight-wise I've been since I started--the lowest was the first night I went out clubbing and somehow dropped well over a kilo (so much the game warned me that losing that much weight at once isn't likely to stay off--which was true because it was all water weight, and came back a day or so later), and I'm only a couple hundredths of a BMI points off from that (it was 28.66). I'm also back to under 85 kilo. Considering I started out just shy of 89 kilo, yeah. Not bad in two months. :D

I fly back home Saturday, and my fervent hope was to have lost ten pounds--so just over 4.5 kilo--before I did. I haven't quite reached that point, but I'm close enough that it really doesn't matter that much to me that I didn't hit a random numerical goal.

I'll admit that I'm worried about going home for other reasons than just going home--that's going to be a week and a half of pretty much no exercise plus a LOT of fattening American food. Can't be helped and all, but ARGH, will it suck to go backwards after all the ups and downs and work to get where I am now.

Also, because I know myself, I'm making myself work out BEFORE I pop in FF13. XD

Sigh...

The older Japanese lady who was determined to be my Japanese mama sent me 8000 yen to give to my friend who's leaving as a goodbye present, only I'm not going to get to see her. So I blew off lunch and went to the ATM so I could do a direct deposit to send the money to my friend. She's super low on money right now, so I gave her 12,000 yen to make it a round 20,000 yen (which is around $200 USD), because I know that will help her a lot right now.

She sent me an e-mail thanking me, and saying she didn't want to leave, and I'm kinda like, it's hard to be supportive when I don't want her to leave, either. I know what I should say and what she needs to hear--that it's always hard when you're first leaving, but then you get where you're going and things get better as you get into the swing of things--but it's hard to say that kind of thing when you also really don't want the person to go.

Ah, well. She knows I'm going to miss her, a lot.

She's probably coming back to Japan next April for a visit, since her company convinced her to buy an open-ended ticket and she'll need to use it, but...yeah. :/

Well, here’s something you don’t see everyday. Our friends over at National Geographic report that octopuses have been discovered tip-toeing with coconut-shell halves suctioned to their undersides, then reassembling the halves and disappearing inside for protection.

It all starts with what people are already calling LJ Genderfail: the newest beta version of LJ added a mandatory "gender" field to the sign-up process and eliminated the "unspecified" option (LJ quickly responded that the mandatoryness and binaryness of the new question were an accidental bug, and that the code was not going to go live. Of course, not everyone believes them about the "unintentional" part).
